Meeting dates are subject to change. It is recommended that students listen to daily announcements and parents sign up for Enews to be up to date on club meetings.
Parent Volunteers with completed background checks are welcome and encouraged to assist with student clubs and activities. If you need to confirm or complete your background check, please contact FHMS office at 851-4868 or Nancy Dohle.
If your son/daughter is in one or more of these clubs, a one-time annual activity fee of $20 will be assessed. There is a $40 maximum per family at the middle school level. Please turn the fee into the main office or the club sponsor.

Student Council

Joining Student Council is an opportunity to plan whole school events.We will meet every other Tuesday right after school until 4:15pm. When your community is working on a project, you may be meeting more often. Student Council can give you the opportunity to take a leadership role. We look forward to planning fun activities for our student body and community.

Drama Club

Drama Club has something for everyone, because theatre is the ultimate Team Activity! This includes performance like acting, singing, and dancing or tech theatre like building sets, painting, digital design, sound design, costuming, stage makeup and so much more! We put on two performances per year and have ample opportunities for you to showcase your talents! We offer a strong leadership and mentor program that continues into high school. Joining also means you will have the opportunity to choose our Spring Musical. Join our theatre Family today!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Join us for food, fellowship, and fun with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We will meet every other Wednesday morning starting August 28th from 7:15 - 8:00. We play kickball, dodgeball, basketball, and other fun games. We have donuts, treats and finish with a small bible study. You do not have to be an athlete to join. Come one, come all.

All students are welcome and encouraged to participate in the intramurals program. Intramurals are offered after school until 4:15 pm one or two days a week to help students focus on sports and physical activities regardless of their athletic skill. Each quarter a new sport or activity is offered including soccer, flag football, wrestling, basketball, speedminton, pickleball and ping pong. A parent must sign the intramural permission form before a student can participate.

Cross Country

Jazz Band

Thursdays 3:30-4:30

7th and 8th grade students are invited to join the Jr. Viking Jazz Band. Students must have at least one year of playing experience and have the desire to learn different styles of jazz, swing, and rock music. This group performs at the winter and spring band concerts and the Francis Howell High School Joint Concert with the Bryan Middle School Jazz Band and FHHS Jazz Band. We also take a field trip in April to participate in the Fort Zumwalt North Jazz Festival. The group will meet after school once a week starting in mid September. September 15th is for rhythm section only, which is anyone wanting to play piano, drumset, guitar, or bass guitar. September 22nd will be the first day for everyone.

National Junior Honor Society

Members should plan to attend two meetings each quarter. Students are responsible for running meetings, setting dates, and keeping attendance records.

Are you a leader in our school? Do you show exemplary character and maintain good grades? Do you have a heart for serving others? This is your organization! Seventh and Eighth grade students who attain a grade point average of 3.8 (no rounding) or higher will be invited to attend an information meeting. Students must turn in the application by the due date listed on the application. No late applications will be accepted! A five-member faculty council will review the applicant’s scholarship, character, citizenship, leadership, and service. New inductees are notified by an administrator within a month after applications are returned. If you become a member, you must maintain a 3.5 GPA for the duration of your membership. You must also join a committee and attend its respective meetings, complete 10 service hours in the community and school, and participate in one of our school-wide service projects. In the past, these projects have included babysitting for choir and band concerts, helping with Honor Flight, and participating in teacher appreciation events. Parent volunteers are needed to assist with this club.

DeltaBots Robotics

This club is a great introduction to building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms hardware and software. You will learn how to use the Mindstorm brick along with motors and sensors to turn simple LEGOs into robots that can be programmed to perform many tasks. Students wishing to participate in this club need to be team players, creative problem solvers and task oriented. Applications are due by 2:30 on September 7, 2022. Space on the team is limited! Applicants will be notified of membership status on Friday, September 9, 2022 and the first meeting is Monday, September 12, 2022. (Most meetings will be held on Mondays 3:15-5:15pm.) In addition to the activity fee mentioned above, this club has an additional $40 fee to cover the cost of competition.

Spirit Team

Spirit Team is a fun way to learn chants, cheers, and lead out Jr. Viking spirit! We will practice leadership skills as well as learn how to cooperate in a group. Spirit Team also volunteers to give back to the community. We will be selling Candygrams at Valentine’s Day again this year. This is a year-round club dedicated to having fun and promoting FHMS spirit! We are...Junior Vikings!

VOX

Meeting on Thursdays, 3:15-3:45 pm

VOX is FHM’s community service after school choir under the direction of Mrs. Howard. This group is open to any FHMS student. By being a member of this group, students will showcase our FHMS mission statement of “We Serve. We Learn. We Lead.” through singing. We will begin meeting sometime in September with our service project of caroling in December.

Wanna have a student voice in Character Connections class? Wanna help with recognizing students at FHMS? Come be a part of the new Student Character Crew. The FHMS Student Character Crew is a before school club that works to promote Character, Spread Kindness to Staff & Students, and Promote Character Through Fun Activities.

Yearbook

Meeting Dates: Bi-Weekly on Tuesdays and TBD in small groups

Help capture those unforgettable moments at FHMS as a member of our yearbook staff! We are a small group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders . You will be designing the pages of the yearbook. This includes taking pictures, writing captions and news stories, publicizing yearbook sales, and handling all other duties associated with publishing a yearbook. We will meet two Tuesdays a month as a large group and may meet in small groups on agreed upon dates in the mornings or afternoons.

Meeting dates are set once leaders are chosen

WEB is a year-long mentor program that is student led. Selected 7th & 8th graders are WEB Leaders who provide leadership for our school and mentor 6th grade. The goal of the WEB Leader is to help students make connections and feel a sense of belonging in our school. Leaders are chosen through an application and selection process in the spring prior to the upcoming school year. They will continue to serve throughout the school year in a number of ways including transition day, lessons in the character connection classes, and socials.
